I do ♥ a good dreamy video. None of these are new (especially since most of them were posted on my old blog before I accidentally deleted it), but all of them are good.

I like atmosphere, alternate universes*, tight color palettes. Which btw, if you know any good examples, send em! I can even get into like, My Chemical Romance videos. Visuals! Visuals are awesome! Referencing My Chemical Romance is so dated of me, but I’m old. I am old and these are old. Clearly someone** needs to be spending more time online***.

Anyway. Also a good time are contemporary country videos (90’s era), because contemporary country and subtlety are alien to each other’s universe, which is GREAT. Someday, if we’re both lucky , we’ll take a drive through Reba country.

It’s challenging to color-correct neutrals, so I kinda didn’t try that hard (excuse: summertime).

I wanted to write something entertaining but wasted those braincells stressing about other things. Oops. At least Ryan and Chad are letting me steal their internet. And I have a dope new roommate and get to preview Alec Gross’ new album. It’ll be out in a few months – it’s so solid and the songwriting is the best and I love it. Check him the fuck out, you guys. He’ll punch you right in the emotions. I even stole the title of this post from him (excuse: summertime).

I just finished something awesome; I can’t post it til it gets officially okayed – so next coupla days.

Keeping this post short, as I’m in an offensive mood and can’t, in good conscience, spread it around. Hope y’all are lovely.

I should probably wait to figure out how I feel about this one before I blog it, but I live in the moment, so. The proportions are a little wack/awkward, as well as the color, but that’s not my main issue. Somewhere about halfway through this one, the expression turned from ‘pensive and thoughtful’ into ’slightly belligerent’. Which is kind of at odds with the original narrative, which had something to do with people getting lost in swamps forever and idontwannatalkaboutit. I’M LEARNIN’ OVER HERE.

Norman Rockwell – Southern Justice

I KNOW, RIGHT?!  I’ve been getting into Norman Rockwell lately – his draftsmanship is insane.  I’d always avoided him just because I didn’t dig the americana propoganda sorta themes and the caricaturization. Recently I revisited some more well-known pieces to investigate his technical skills and stumbled across this. Take off that signature in the corner and I’d never have guessed. I’d also never have guessed I’d be getting really into Norman Rockwell, either.

Another thing I recently realized: making this a ‘just my art stuff’ blog would be dumb, and also that is what a portfolio is for, and I should put one of those together.
